SME Corp extends GST e-voucher deadline

KUALA LUMPUR: SME Corp announced today that the deadline for the Goods and Services Tax (GST) eVoucher download for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) is Feb 28, 2015.

The GST eVoucher was introduced as a quick, fast and efficient method to disseminate grants to SMEs for the purchase of or upgrade to GST-compliant software and to prepare them for the implementation of the GST on April 1 this year, SME said in a statement today.

After having distributed 150,000 GST eVouchers since June 1, 2014, the rate of redemption by SMEs can still be elevated despite the eVoucher redemption period expiring on Jan 16, 2015, it said.

The GST, a six per cent tax, will replace the sales and services tax of up to 16 per cent beginning April 1, 2015. – BERNAMA
